This is one of several cards which I felt necessary to alter/redo as the original no longer depicted the card meaning accurately. The original artwork was too hard, too intimidating, and lacking in a good deal of the inherent symbology I wanted the card artwork to posess.

I know that my crone is not old and haggard; I have a real issue with it being expected that she be portrayed in this manner. Many women enter the crone phase while in the prime of their lives. They are beautiful, confident, mature women -- not the old and ugly hags as often depicted. The Crone knows who she is, and knows where she is headed, she has overcome hurt and hardship, she has grown wise from lessons learned. She is the woman who has journeyed beyond the role of motherhood to that of high priestess. She is walks the pathway from the physical world to the realms of spirit with ease and surety.
