Medium: Acrylics and coloured pencils

Busy, busy, busy ... I was working on Ares and totally messed up his face after almost finishing the entire painting. So I carefully washed the paint back of his face in a mad hope that I could salvage a couple of days work if the paper was not too badly damaged.

And while I waited for paper to dry on one painting, I decided I had best start another and that 'nother' is this wee depiction of Pan. He is everything Ares is not. The Ares painting is a see of red and black, while this one is green with creams and whites. Ares flowed until I began to work on his face, and then turned into a nightmare. Pan has been a delight.

He has restored my senses and now I am ready to work on Ares again.

This is a very pretty Pan... not what I think of when I generally think of him. My Pan is usually dark and introspective, this one is light and airy. Probably my "earth" nature... :D

great concept, great work! love the light way of puttin pan's nature into shape, i favour this way of thinking of pan's character. :clap:

And that is why I painted him all 'light'. Everyone will be expecting him to be darker. When I thought about it, all I could think of was why? I've not seen many fair coloured satyrs, so I thought it about time to give him a makeover ;)

Thank you. After working on 'dark' Ares, and Eros I could not do another 'dark' man straight away. My mind and senses screamed 'Why??'

Hence his lighter colours. *grins* I needed a break from dark-haired men for a spell.

I don't think of Pan as dark, but I do think of him as wild. But I really like seeing this calm, introspective side you've depicted here. It's a Pan that usually isn't prtrayed, but makes complete sense.

He's dark because he's Pan, man! :D

He's probably usually done dark because he's often confused with Herne the Hunter (Cernunnos). He has many of the same aspects as Herne, but he's from a different mythology...

"He is recognized as the God of fields, groves, and wooded glens, because of this, Pan is connected to fertility and season of spring." From Wikipedia.

Herne is more of a Winter spirit, so this light Pan probably fits better for Spring...

Ares is a turbulent energy to work work :/, but Pan has certainly turned into a delight! I ADORE the love and light in this image. Great work!
