Artist's Comment: The Cailleach is a reworking of an older painting, one I was never completely happy with for a multitude of reasons. She is one of several Celtic gods and goddesses I have transformed into dragon form. Cailleach the Blue-Faced Hag is a creature of Celtic myth. She is many things ... she brings the Winter, she heals the land. She represents transformation and death. She teaches us to let go of aspects of our life which are no longer part of our present or future. She can be harsh. Do not listen to her guidance at your own peril. The lesson will be harsher for those who turn a blind eye and deaf ear.

You're so productive...so much stuff in so little a time.
Love the picture...a very unusual uptake on the myth :)
I miss your watercolors a bit. We won't see them anytime soon?

Aah well, yeah, I get that all the time. I'm a rather prolific artist, I know, but hey it's my nine to five job as well as my after hours passion, so I get to paint for up to 100 hours every week. That being said, I have been working on this piece for several months now. I started this version of her back at the beginning of June, and was forced to put her down in order to work on commissions and miniatures for auction etc.

As for seeing more watercolour work ... unfortunately, no. I cannot see myself using watercolours again unless I am commissioned to do so. I simply cannot get the effects I want with them, while acrylics do.

:) That's what I like to do. Most all of what I paint has a story :)
